    is about our commitment to provide each and every Teck Whyean with the ability to transform their own future for the betterment of themselves and others around them So how are we going to do that Fundamentally it begins with quality relationships where our teachers are committed to understanding students their strengths and weaknesses their passions and interests their hopes and dreams With that we can then begin to develop these strengths deepen interests and provide opportunities to fulfill our students dreams A Community of Future ready Learners who Lead Serve and Achieve our vision statement is the school s hope for all who enter the gates of Teck Whye Sec by the time they leave in 4 to 5 years time In the 21st Century we can no longer be certain that we learn and know today will be sufficient for tomorrow What is needed instead is a mindset of flexibility adaptability and resilience and a spirit of lifelong learning in order to be prepared for tomorrow s challenges Our hope is for all Teck Whyeans to be able to lead with conviction serve with compassion and achieve with confidence We will work hard to deliver programmes and opportunities for students to participate learn and grow in these areas Finally our school values R esilience our Anchor I ntegrity the Foundation S ynergy in Diversity E xcellence our Goal represent what we value and what guides our daily decisions and actions I will be using my weekly Monday morning sharing to elaborate on the significant and importance of each value and how they apply to Teck Whyeans To me these four values will also serve Teck Whyeans wherever they go in the future The renewal of our school vision mission and values on its own is not going to

    and presented 2 Friends of TWSS awards as well as 7 TWSS Long Service Awards to our staff In the area of CCAs we are proud of our students in the following areas Hockey B Division Girls National Champion Floorball B Division Girls National 1st runner up NCC Land Best Unit Competition Silver Boys Brigade J M Fraser Award for Excellence Silver We congratulate them and acknowledge their hard work and perseverance and also hope that they will inspire their peers to achieve and excel as well ACADEMIC EMPHASIS All levels of students had their Common Test 1 at the end of last term and their overall performance was shared by their respective Level Managers during assembly The school leaders also shared the results with Sec 4 and 5 parents and recommended strategies to help students achieve their targets A copy of the slides is available HERE or find it under Latest News in the school website www teckwhyesec org The school mid year examinations will begin on 28 Apr and end by 17 May Please support us by encouraging your child to start their revision early and consistently By comparing the overall results from last year and the CT1 results with this year s targets you can help your child identify the subjects that need greater attention and work hard to make improvements Please note that 18 May Tue is Marking Day so students will only return to school for lessons from 19 May Wed For the upper secondary classes holiday remediation and revision programmes will be conducted in June These programmes are important as teachers will use the time to work on the gaps identified over the semester and to complete essential topics or coursework for subjects like D T We strongly encourage parents not to book holidays
