    for the 2009 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE SINGTEL GRAND PRIX opened today This first release consisted of all grandstands except the Bay Grandstand and Walkabout tickets As of 18 00 hours 20 7 of available tickets had been taken up The most popular grandstands were the Pit Padang and Connaught The vast majority of sales have come through the improved on line booking system authorised overseas sales agents and the hotline call centre The SISTIC Box Office at the Indoor Stadium reported relatively low volumes of walk up customers We are encouraged by the strong response and pleased that the early bird prices are popular with race fans The improvements to the ticketing system and call centre have ensured that no major transaction issues were reported today said Michael Roche Executive Director of Singapore GP Given the strong response today we will also be releasing the grandstand at Turn 3 along with Walkabout and Bay Grandstand tickets on 20 April This grandstand had been on hold pending its realignment to maximise viewing opportunities after the changes to Pit Exit which were announced earlier The Turn 3 Grandstand will be priced at S 988 for the early bird buyers for the first

    fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for Turn 1 Turn 2 Stamford and Pit Grandstands with savings ranging from 7 to 14 when compared with last year These prices also represent an average of 15 discount on the regular 2009 prices Tickets for the three day Walkabout Padang Connaught and Esplanade Waterfront Grandstands have been held at the same price as last year during the early bird release of part one offering savings of 12 to 29 over the regular 2009 prices see Annex 2 This year the Bay Grandstand will be presented as a one price category instead of different pricing points for the upper and lower seats as applied in 2008 The configurations of the Marina Raffles and Turn 3 Grandstands are being studied to maximise the viewing opportunities due to the recently announced changes which includes revisions to the Pit Lane Exit and Turn 14 Currently only three day season passes are available for grandstands However SGP does not rule out the possibility of releasing single day grandstand tickets closer to the race weekend pending the take up of the season passes Tickets released in part one of the launch will be available for sale via three channels online http tickets singaporegp sg the ticketing hotline 65 6738 6738 as well as the SISTIC Box Office located at the Singapore Indoor Stadium from 9 April 2009 They will not be available at the other SISTIC outlets or via SingPost until 20 April 2009 As the title sponsor of the race SingTel is offering its customers the chance to purchase a limited number of single day walkabout tickets at early bird prices before they are officially released for general sale These will be exclusively available at the SingTel roadshow at Wisma Atria shopping centre from 10

    sell out crowd of 100 000 at the Marina Bay street circuit Alonso came from a lowly 15th on the grid to record his 20th career victory We were unlucky yesterday very very lucky today he said after a race which saw Ferrari fail to score a point and McLaren Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton extend his World Championship lead to seven points after finishing in third place After qualifying our hopes were completely gone added Alonso but again today shows F1 is unpredictable on Sunday I had my fingers crossed all through the last lap It was a great weekend for Formula One We all had great challenges in front of us and we will all be part of history German driver Nico Rosberg s part in that history was his best ever result in second place for Williams Toyota A third of the way through Rosberg briefly led the race It s a very nice view to have P1 on the pit board said the 23 year old whose father Keke World Champion with Williams in 1982 was here to watch As the event drew praise from F1 insiders and visitors alike Singapore Grand Prix Executive Director Michael Roche was quick to acknowledge the many people who contributed to its success This was a momentous occasion for Singapore said Mr Roche It has worked for years to have all the attributes of a great city then it suddenly had the opportunity to put on a massive sporting event like F1 Singapore has never had a project like this one that brought so many people together from all disciplines and trades and from so many different backgrounds When you talk about Formula 1 it s all about team and the Singapore Grand Prix team in the widest sense has done
