    Office of Student Affairs Office of Technology Management Office of Venue Management Adjunct Faculty Members Faculty of Dance Faculty of Mother Tongue Languages Faculty of Music Faculty of Theatre Faculty of Visual Arts Library SOTA Organisation Chart Colin Lai obtained his Bachelor s Degree in Science with Merit majoring in Physics from the National University of Singapore NUS He went on to attain his Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education NIE During his undergraduate years at NUS Colin was a member of the prestigious Core Curriculum now called the University Scholar s Programme a programme for academically bright and well rounded students Based on his academic achievements Colin qualified to go to the prestigious McMaster University in Canada for a semester s exchange to further his interests in Physics and cross faculty modules like Philosophy and New Age Religions While at NIE Colin volunteered and led two overseas expeditions to Sikkim India and Surin Thailand respectively This service learning experience broadened his insights on eco education and nature art Prior to joining SOTA Colin was a teacher at the Science Department at St Joseph s Institution Independent As an avid drummer musician he was not only made

    Office of Human Resource Office of Procurement Office of Property Management Office of Student Affairs Office of Technology Management Office of Venue Management Adjunct Faculty Members Faculty of Dance Faculty of Mother Tongue Languages Faculty of Music Faculty of Theatre Faculty of Visual Arts Library SOTA Organisation Chart Dawn graduated from the National University of Singapore NUS with a Bachelor of Science degree Honours in Biomedical Science She went on to obtain her Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education Dawn began her teaching career with Temasek Junior College as a Biology lecturer and tutor from 2004 to 2011 Apart from her experience in teaching graduating classes she was the Level Coordinator for Secondary 3 and 4 Biology in the Integrated Programme IP offered by the College and played a key role in the development of differentiated instructional programmes for both JC and IP students Subsequently Dawn held the appointment of Acting Deputy Head for Student Welfare She was part of the core team of teachers that worked to develop the Civics curriculum for the 6 Year IP programme Dawn was also appointed the Civics Coordinator for the Secondary 3 and 4 levels in which she was involved in planning the schedule for Civics lessons and liaising with external organizations for motivational student talks As the Sexuality Education Coordinator for the Secondary 3 and 4 levels she worked with a team of teachers in reviewing and conducting sexuality education programmes within the school Dawn was also a teacher mentor for the JC international scholars and a member of the College Timetabling Committee Dawn was placed on the MOE Future Leaders Programme FLP for 3 consecutive years from 2009 to 2011 Dawn has a keen interest in music She enjoys playing the keyboard and guitar Dawn believes that

  • Hasina Begum
    Hasina graduated with a Bachelor in Science degree majoring in Chemistry from the National University of Singapore and Post Graduate Diploma in Education Credit from the National Institute of Education Nanyang Technological University Singapore She began her career as a Science and Chemistry teacher at Fairfield Methodist Secondary School in 2001 and was there till 2003 She was a part of the pioneer Leadership Development Team in Fairfield while being a part of the dynamic Science Department She took on graduating classes and was active in school based programmes like Learn Work where students exhibited their learning in a typical Science classroom to the public and parents Throughout her stay in Fairfield she tried to infuse creativity and inquiry in the Science or Chemistry classroom She joined Henderson Secondary School in 2004 and was given the opportunity to lead the Henderson Dance in 2006 Under her leadership dance attained excellence in the local arts arena With the help of the newly appointed dance instructor her dance girls took part in the one of mass display items Flight of Splendour at the 2008 Singapore Youth Festival SYF Opening Ceremony while maintaining the Silver award in the SYF Central Judging in 2007 She stayed on as an integral member of the Dance team and was proud to be part of them when the girls achieved the Gold Award in the SYF Central Judging in 2011 While being an active part of the arts scene in Henderson she took on graduating classes and her classes performed well for the national examinations She was also a part an integral part of the Internationalisation Team and was a forged new structure with her colleague in the early years that the programme was started in the school Hasina strongly believes that every student is an individual

    of Corporate Communications Office of Faculty Administration Office of Finance Office of Human Resource Office of Procurement Office of Property Management Office of Student Affairs Office of Technology Management Office of Venue Management Adjunct Faculty Members Faculty of Dance Faculty of Mother Tongue Languages Faculty of Music Faculty of Theatre Faculty of Visual Arts Library SOTA Organisation Chart A Bachelor of Science honours graduate from the National University of Singapore majoring in Physics Raufie Shafie began his teaching career at Raffles Junior College in 1998 His belief in a child s exposure to a well rounded education is reflected in his wide ranging contributions as coaches of the sailing and the women s soccer teams and teacher mentor of the Electronics Club As part of his Masters in Education thesis Raufie organized a national toy invention competition for high school students to investigate their inventive mindset Due to popular response the competition successfully ran for five years Raufie was fortunate to be part of SOTA in 2007 to help kick start the initiative He left for New Zealand in 2009 to further enrich his life experiences with his family In Auckland he taught at ACG Parnell College for two years
