    S UK F F G D P R C S UK F A M S pore Graduated in Singapore in 1958 Dr Choo was awarded the Queens Scholarship by the Government of Singapore to pursue post graduate studies in the UK where he obtained the Fellowship of the Faculty of General Dental Practice of the Royal College of Surgeons UK In 1985 Dr Choo was invited to present a key note paper at the Federation Dentaire Internationale FDI Congress in Belgrade This is an international federation of national dental associations and organizations whose aim is to attain optimal oral health for all people Since then he has been very active in the Federation Dentaire Internationale FDI World Dental Federation servicing as Co Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Scientific Programme He was awarded the FDI Merit Award appointed the FDI Programme director in 2002 and Honorary Advisor to the Singapore FDI World Dental Congress 2009 He was appointed to embark on developing a Continuing Education Programme for the FDI World Wide serving firstly as Continuing Education Program Manager 1993 2002 and later as Continuing Education Program Director 2002 2008 Other appointments include Roll of Honour in the Singapore Dental Association

    from PSC Singapore After fulfilling his National Service obligations as a dental officer in the army he left for Philadelphia Pennsylvania USA for his postgraduate training and obtained his Masters in Science and Certificate in Periodontics at Temple University in 1988 Dr Chung returned to Singapore and served in the Ministry of Health and National Dental Centre from 1988 to 1998 He was sent on a Ministry of Health HMDP fellowship where he was appointed visiting scientist at Eastman Dental Centre University of Rochester in 1993 He was also a visiting research fellow at Harvard School of Dental Medicine Boston MA under the Seah Cheng Siang Traveling Research Fellowship administered by the Academy of Medicine Singapore 1994 Dr Chung has been involved teaching part time at NUS for more than 20 years He serves as a member of the Complaints Panel of Singapore Dental Council and has been serving as an internal examiner from its first examinations for the NUS Master in Dental Surgery Programme Periodontics Dr Chung has also presented many lectures workshops and seminars in Brunei Cambodia China India Indonesia Malaysia Myanmar Nepal USA and Vietnam In addition he has authored a number of articles and abstracts in various peer reviewed journals and other publications Previous appointments include Past Chairman Chapter of Dental Surgeons Academy of Medicine S pore Founding president Society of Periodontology S pore Past Treasurer of the Singapore Dental Association Immediate Past President of the Asian Pacific Society of Periodontology Past president of the Society of Periodontology S pore Current appointments Adjunct Associate Professor in Periodontics Faculty of Dentistry National University of Singapore Visiting Consultant Dental Centre National University Hospital Member of Editorial Advisory Board Dental Asia In addition Dr Chung is an active member of Covenant Community Methodist Church where he attends with his
