  • An Insight Into The Sam Willows
shrug It just so happened that we just like to sing as much as we play music Photo by Liza Reudas MOSHIN 2012 All Rights Reserved This seven month old quartet is swiftly sweeping locals off their feet with a sold out EP launch party held at TAB on Oct 27 this year But the process of the EP did not come easy Aside from the arduous process of recording the band had to go about their daily lives as well Blending our four schedules was a constant problem Jonathan recollected Their pursuit of perfecting their craft shows even in the creative process as these four individuals have differing musical preferences There is no such thing as majority wins The four of us must have a common consensus and then we ll move on Narelle asserted to which Jonathan illustrated It s like four artistes working together It s very hard to agree we always have problems agreeing Photo courtesy of the Sam Willows The Sam Willows determination did pay off though with rave reviews after their EP launch We got four stars on Today that was pretty cool And we beat Taylor Swift Ben exclaimed excitedly before further elaborating on the 0 5 star gap between them and Taylor Swift s newly released album Red One of the band s most notable achievements to date would be clinching a spot at South by Southwest SXSW in Austin Texas next year Jonathan submitted their application along with two of their original numbers and their website before notifying the rest of the quartet I almost deleted the email of their successful application when it came Jonathan reminisced In spite of the series of successes the band has accomplished in the past seven months they remain grateful for what they have It

  • Album Review: “Days That Never Fade” by Unholy Coronation
were younger especially if you grew up listening to rock In spite of that Unholy Coronation still has the ability to put the listener through an emotional roller coaster that brings out the good bad and downright ugly sides of life with catchy riffs intoxicating drum beats and lyrics bordering on poetical Days That Never Fade presents to you six tracks of rock both classic and contemporary and funk while simultaneously narrating a story with a plot universally understood by people of life losing and redemption Unholy Coronation definitely took a risk with mixing old school rap rock and funk into one track namely Funk Song Young Blood It was however worth the risk as it was one of the most outstanding tracks of this EP This number starts off with classic bass guitar plucking reminiscent of Red Hot Chilli Peppers but slowly evolves into a track that leaves the listener strangely happy and in the mood to dance On The Road another track to look out for also embodies the soul of rock n roll a representation of a lifestyle devoid of inhibitions with times of mindless alcoholism and copulation This song has the potential of becoming the anthem of many as it throws listeners into a realm of confusingly pleasant mix of anger happiness and liberation It is quite simply a challenge to listen to this song without having your head bobbing to the beat or having your eyes close without you realising as you take in everything this track has to offer Days That Never Fade has you constantly going back for more more of the guitar riffs more of the vocals that definitely do not sound like they belong to a 16 year old and more of the tracks that manage to make you feel emotions
