    Professional Sharing Day 14 09 2012 Resources and Useful Links Venue Booking Archives Contact Us Home Partners Administration DHS Apps Contact Us All Campus Life Campus Life Campus Life 2012 Campus Life 2011 Campus Life 2010 Campus Life 2009 Campus Life 2008 Home Nov 12 Farewell Ceremony for Mr and Mrs SR Nathan Nov 12 Farewell Ceremony for Mr and Mrs SR Nathan 12 Nov 2011 On 12 th November 2011 the Scouts and Guides of Dunman High School received outgoing Chief Scout and Patron of Girl Guides Mr Mrs SR Nathan in a farewell and appreciation ceremony held in the school The ceremony was organized to show our deepest appreciation and honor Mr Mrs Nathan for their contributions to the country s scouts and guides movement A guard of honor contingent formed by our scouts and guides welcomed our distinguished guests They were led to a mock campfire set up outside the school auditorium In the true spirit of scouting and guiding a campfire setting was devised to present Mr Mrs Nathan with a long service award and various citations by the chief commissioners of the Singapore Scouts and Guides associations The Dunman High School Crane scout troupe had the honor of presenting a campfire song accompanied by instrumental performance on the guitar and violin Pass it on to the audience As Mr and Mrs S R Nathan have made great contributions to our scouting and guiding movement and would be passing down their duties the scout troupe wanted to thank the couple as well as congratulate them for an illustrious list of contributions to the scouting and guiding movement as well to the country This was followed by a campfire song session which was led by the scouts and guides of our school The session ended with the

  • Nov 17 - 18: Humanities Retreat
    even attempted the 2008 Social Studies O Level paper in order to explore the concepts being shared at the session at greater length At the end of the sharing our staff has a more thorough understanding of how to interpret the O Level Social Studies examiner s report Next the department went onto the next segment in the later half of the day on how to build progressive writing skills and values education in Humanities which was conducted by Mrs Tan Bee Kee In this session the department went on to explore the Ministry s recent recommendations on how values morals and national education can be integrated into the teaching of humanities subjects This session is of paramount important and has great strategic depth because it allows all officers an opportunity to look at the Dunmanian Outcomes Moral integrity passion for life and learning idealism 21 st century skills bilingualism and multiculturalism active citizenry designed by the school and incorporate them into the syllabus and scheme of work in the various subjects The teachers have a better idea of how to incorporate values into Humanities lessons and this aligns our lessons with the constant effort to attain Dunmanian Outcomes The afternoon segment of the retreat ended off with a workshop conducted by Mr Samuel Lim Ming Chun titled Essay writing Equipping Students with the Skills Techniques to Write Coherently and Think Critically Mr Lim was a former Victoria Junior College and Hwa Chong International School HCIS History and Social Studies teacher and he shared his experience with the International Baccalaureate syllabus from teaching in Hwa Chong International School Some of the resources shared were academic readings by P M H Bell and G R Berridge as well as writing samples by students from HCIS which were well received by our staff Throughout the session creative and engaging ways to teach history and essay writing was shared with our teachers and this was a valuable session for all when we incorporate them in lessons To end the day the department went out for dinner at Suntec City for cohesion as well as to bid farewell to three of our colleagues Mrs Chua Wan Ee Mr Hardi Zein and Mr Najeeb Assan who will be embarking on their further studies and receiving their new postings respectively After dinner the department went to the Singapore Flyer for the evening s recreational activity where the convergence of history and modernity overlooks the Singapore skyline In the second day the department broke up into the various subjects to receive updates on revised Secondary History and Geography syllabus This was done by Head of Department Mr Chiang Ky and Subject Head for Geography Miss Pear Siew Lee In this session key features of the revised Secondary Geography and History syllabuses was communicated to the teachers There was also an update on curriculum time for the humanities subjects The implications of changes in policy as well as syllabus on the Dunman High Programme DHP Humanities Curriculum was

  • Dec 06 - 10: Basketball (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)
    stronger as a team in terms of skill physical and mental This is a memorable trip The trip to Malaysia with my teammates had been a fun and enjoyable one We had a great time bonding with one another along with our juniors and seniors More importantly as a team we got to know one another better With the valuable experiences we had when playing friendly matches against the local teams we reflected a lot and had lots of discussion and team talks on how to improve and play better basketball This trip had brought us closer together and I hope there would be more trips in the future 11Y3F LIAU MING SHUN As a whole I feel that the Basketball Malaysia Trip has been a memorable and meaningful one First of all the trip has been an eye opener one as we are exposed to many strong teams in Malaysia This serves as a wakeup call for us warning us that there are many teams out there who are much stronger than us Thus I believe that we will be more hardworking be it during training or on court to vie for a position for ourselves as well as for the school Most importantly this trip has really bonded the team bringing us closer to each other allowing us to show care and concern for each other like a big family be it on court or off court Lastly I hope that the school can organize similar basketball trips in future 11Y3F TAY KAI XIAN From this trip I have learnt how the people of Malaysia live interact and play the game of basketball It is very different as compared to Singapore Their style skill and aggression is something I have never seen before when playing against Singaporean teams

    Contact Us All Campus Life Campus Life Campus Life 2012 Campus Life 2011 Campus Life 2010 Campus Life 2009 Campus Life 2008 Home Dec 05 D Prom 2011 Dec 05 D Prom 2011 05 Dec 2011 After finally completing their long and arduous A level journey Senior High Student Council Student Welfare department collaborated with a handful of enthusiastic students to organise D Prom 2011 a well deserved celebration for the 4th batch of Year 6s While D Prom serves as a formal closure to the final chapter of their six year journey it also marks the start of a fresh new page where a whole new beginning entails This year D Prom was held on the 5th December at Marina Mandarin Hotel The night kicked off with a cocktail reception where the graduating batch of Dunmanians dressed up in their most glamorous outfits A photo booth was set up with spotlights and a white backdrop to capture their most beautiful and handsome moment of their young lives and everyone was excited to get a photo shoot The ballroom was finally ready Decorations took the simple concept of balloons and tea light candles to create a classy warm atmosphere As the seniors took their seats the lights dimmed music softened and the emcees took the stage to begin the event The programme was laid back and casual with entertaining games wonderful performances and spontaneous emcees to count on for a good laugh The nominees of D Prom King and Queen of 2011 went up on stage in pairs to promote themselves before SMS voting took place to determine the ultimate winner There were also several lucky draw prizes given out with the grand prize winner walking away with 150 worth of voucher in Marina Mandarin s Ristorante Bologna A series
