    and the Knowledge Skills Programme KSP The BSP equips students with a strong foundation in the languages and nurtures a bicultural orientation in them This pillar which offers special programmes such as the Bilingual Programme Chinese Language Elective Programme and Chinese Culture Appreciation Programme nurtures the language talent of students and enhance their appreciation and understanding of Chinese history culture and literature The HAP instils in students an understanding of the world through the study of the Humanities and an appreciation for the aesthetics The MSP nurtures the spirit of inquiry and develops their real life application of scientific and mathematical concepts The KSP is designed to inculcate interdisciplinary problem based learning skills in students to develop them into critical thinkers This includes a broad based Research Studies Programme to equip students with thinking and research skills and an Inter Disciplinary Multi Intelligences IDMI project for students to apply these skills in authentic settings Students are also involved in research programmes both school based and externally run with Institutes of Higher Learning and have opportunities to present their research findings at local and overseas symposiums The DHP develops students through a spiral progression of knowledge and skills from Year 1 to Year 6 There is a detailed scope and sequence plan which articulates the learning outcomes at each stage to achieve alignment in student learning Each of the four pillars adopt a range of innovative teaching approaches to engage students in their learning e g Hilda Taba s concept development Socratic questioning concept mapping and inquiry based learning These pedagogies help develop critical thinking skills in students and facilitate student centric collaborative and self directed learning Besides pen and paper assessments a range of assessment modes and performance tasks are used to teach and reinforce different skills These include role

    of Learning Development Involvement in School Improvement Health Satisfaction and Performance Recognition Staff learning and development needs are identified at the school department and individual levels to cater to the strategic needs of the school as well as the needs of the departments and individual staff Learning plans for each level are cascaded down to the next where they are customised and augmented Structures have also been created to facilitate staff learning and development Staff Seminars are organised to support the school s key learning directions and weekly timetabled time is scheduled for professional sharing by subject A Training Roadmap has been drawn up to guide teachers on the developmental opportunities available to them as they progress along their chosen career tracks Staff are provided with the time space and resources to develop professionally They are encouraged to apply for courses organised by MOE and other organisations and are supported to pursue other avenues for professional development such as Masters programmes TWA and PDL Staff are encouraged to constantly seek improvements and innovate in their areas of work For example all teachers are placed in Professional Learning Teams which regularly share good pedagogical practices The Most Innovative Teaching Award MITA was also introduced to promote innovation in Teaching Learning Staff are also encouraged to give suggestions through platforms such as the MOE Ideas Bank Focus Group Discussions and Breakfast Sessions with the Principal All in all these efforts drive a culture where staff continually review innovate and improve To enhance work life harmony for staff processes have been put in place including the tracking of staff workload and the engaging of more administrative staff to ease time spent on administrative work Pro Family policies are also in place to encourage work life harmony e g protected time during school vacations

    aims to nurture Dunmanians into Leaders of Honour who engage their Head Heart and Hands through six approaches platforms Close partnership between the Level Structure and Student Development team Provision of a safe learning environment Thoughtful Pastoral Care Civics PCC and Civics Moral Education CME programmes Service Learning National Education and Co Curricular Activities CCAs To further strengthen support for students Level Heads are appointed to support the Year Heads Co Form Teachers or Co Civics Tutor are also deployed where necessary to ensure that the students differentiated needs are met With PCC and CME the school s bilingual edge is reinforced as the programmes are respectively delivered in English and Chinese Aligned at the learning outcomes PCC engages students on character based and social emotional issues while CME builds up values through the lenses of Chinese culture Dunmanians also have the opportunity to serve the community and advocate positive change through a structured six year Service Learning programme Holistic development is further delivered through CCAs aligned to ensure that learning and behavioural outcomes are met To cater to the students diverse interests Dunmanians can select from a wide range of CCAs in Year 1 and at the end of Year 4 allowing them a new experience at Senior High Senior High students can also initiate new interest groups which can become core CCAs if the members are able to develop a sustainable programme To develop peaks of excellence a Cameo Role system allows Senior High students to further develop skills built in their Junior High years by contributing to their previous CCAs during major events The students CCA experience is also enhanced through performances masterclasses and Overseas Learning Journeys At the Aesthetics front the Arts Exposure Programme is built into the assembly programme and the post exam activities Biennially
