    14 09 2012 Resources and Useful Links Venue Booking Archives Contact Us Home Partners Administration DHS Apps Contact Us All Campus Life Campus Life Campus Life 2012 Campus Life 2011 Campus Life 2010 Campus Life 2009 Campus Life 2008 Home Aug 20 Kukup Learning Journey Aug 20 Kukup Learning Journey 20 Aug 2011 The learning journey to Malaysia was generally enjoyable because we get to see and experience new things The journey was relatively long but the interesting experience we had made up for the long hours of travel At the pineapple experimental farm we were introduced to different hybrids of pineapples and had the opportunity to see how fibre is obtained from the pineapple leaf to make clothes We also learnt that some pineapples were inedible and could only be used for decoration purposes We got to try the Josephine hybrid pineapple ourselves and it was really sweet and nice The trip to Tanjung Piai was an eye opener many of us saw for the first time what Singapore in the 1960s might have looked like During the board walk we saw a variety of mangrove plants and even some interesting creatures like jungle fowl When we reached the end of the board walk we were treated to a paranomic view of the sea standing at the southernmost tip of mainland Asia Kukup in Malaysia looks rather traditional and undeveloped compared to Singapore s urbanized environment The experience at the fish farm was memorable as many of us have not seen such floating fish farms much less walk on them and look at the fishes up close We even had the chance to touch the fish for example the puffer fish although some dared not do so We learnt that in a rural environment like Kukup fishing village most

    Campus Life 2012 Campus Life 2011 Campus Life 2010 Campus Life 2009 Campus Life 2008 Home Aug 25 29 Theatresports Macau Hong Kong Aug 25 29 Theatresports Macau Hong Kong 25 29 Aug 2011 在2011年的8月25日至8月29日 我们中文学会派出了七位同学代表学校参加了由澳门戏剧农庄举办的Theatresports的比赛 参赛的队员有 丁博文 11Y5C34 黄达豪 11Y5C34 段炼 11Y5C23 吴怡泠 11Y5C43 朱哲宁 11Y5C36 陈亦璇 11Y5C31 蔡镇诗 11Y5C46 由苏美萍老师带队 澳门Theatresports是一个即兴剧场的比赛 是由来自各地的参赛队如新加坡 马来西亚 香港 澳门等等同台竞技 本次的澳门Theatresports的比赛一共有四场 分别为两场港澳区预赛 一场港澳区决赛以及一场亚洲联赛 我们只参加亚洲联赛 我们于8月25日晚上到达澳门 之后马上被接送到戏剧农庄参加的当天晚上的Theatresports训练营 之后的两天我们都是更随工作人员的安排 在一些澳门的旅游地点如大三巴参观浏览 同时白天我们也会做一些关于比赛游戏的训练和我们开场节目的排练 而这两天的晚上我们都会观看当天的港澳公开赛 8月28日就是我们的亚洲联赛 在这之前 我们就是进行演出比赛的准备工作 同时培养情绪 Theatresports的比赛中 我们先进行一个三分钟左右的开场表演来做自我介绍 之后我们分别会与我们的前一个队伍和后一个队伍进行比赛 比赛通过双方队长猜硬币的方式决定挑战和被挑战的队伍 挑战的一方可以选择要挑战的游戏 而对方则可以选择先玩的队伍或两队一起玩 游戏过后有三位评判给分 最后就是颁奖的环节和与在场观众的互动 我们此次玩的两个游戏叫一人配多角和慢动作赛事评论 Theatresports 给了我们一个展现我们才华和演技的平台 通过这个平台我们可以了解人生的百态 体验我们没有体验过的经历 这在我们的一生中是非常宝贵的经验 并且我们通过扮演不同的角色和演绎不同的情节 去发现我们平时生活中所没有注意到的细节 让我们更用心去观察周围的世界 所以theatresports帮助了我们很多 教育了我们很多 改变了我们很多 丁博文 11Y5C34 On the 25 th of August to the 29 th of August 2011 a group of Year 5 Chinese Society Senior High students accompanied by our teacher in charge Ms Soh Bee Pheng went to Macau to take part in the annual Asia Theatresports Championship 2011 organised by Theatre Farmers a non profit theatre organisation in Macau The seven students were Ding Bowen 11Y5C34 Huang Dahao 11Y5C34 Duan Lian 11Y5C23 Wu Yiling 11Y5C43 Zhu Zhening 11Y5C36 Emily Tan Yi Xuan 11Y5C31 and me The competition consisted of teams from different parts of Asia namely Singapore Malaysia Hong Kong Macau and Brunei During our stay in Macau besides familiarizing ourselves with the Theatresports games we also had some free time to visit quite a number of famous tourist attractions namely the St Paul s Cathedral Historic Centre and Venetian Casino Resort We also tasted some of their famous delicacies such as Pork Chop Bun and Portuguese Egg Tarts We competed in two matches We were up against two very strong teams the first was a team from Hong Kong and the other was the team from Malaysia It was a close fight we lost by a point to the other Singapore team who came in 3 rd place

    Campus Life 2010 Campus Life 2009 Campus Life 2008 Home Aug 01 DHRP Aug 01 DHRP 05 Jul 2011 The Dunman High Research Programme aims to develop higher peaks of excellence beyond broad based academic and co curricular excellence and to develop Dunmanians into exemplary youth leaders The research opportunities help to strengthen our students fervour and determination in seeking answers desire to excel beyond school work and perseverance in the face of challenges Students in the research programmes have received mentoring and guidance from our teachers research scientists from tertiary and research institutions and consultant science educationalists They have been taught research methodologies for application in authentic learning situations These experiences go beyond just intellectual and cognitive development as they also provide an avenue for life skills training The DHRP Symposium 2011 promotes the idea of integrating research skills and critical thinking together with curriculum content and rigour as well as provides a platform to recognize the efforts and achievements of our student researchers too The research projects display a great deal of creativity analytical and critical thinking as well as maturity of thought We are honoured to have Dr Arjandas Mahadev Head Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in KK

    Campus Life 2010 Campus Life 2009 Campus Life 2008 Home Aug 08 National Day Celebration Aug 08 National Day Celebration 08 Aug 2011 This year the school celebrated National Day on 8 th August The morning started off with the formal observance ceremony and the choir leading the school in singing our National Anthem After the short but meaningful ceremony we proceeded to the hall for the National Day concert We were treated to a fabulous concert in the hall shortly after the solemn observance ceremony The concert was started off by a video that showed us the meaning of this year s National Day theme This year s theme is Majulah The Singapore Spirit Majulah means Onward and it represents our strength energy and dynamism to continually strive towards building a better Singapore The youthful energy of the performers was evident in all the concert items In particular we were treated to a high energy break dance performance by Styles from Beyond They engaged the audience to dance on stage with them to the beat and music of Stand Up for Singapore Several Dunmanians were game enough to get on to the stage and dance together with the group

    Home Partners Administration DHS Apps Contact Us All Campus Life Campus Life Campus Life 2012 Campus Life 2011 Campus Life 2010 Campus Life 2009 Campus Life 2008 Home Aug 23 Staff CIP Aug 23 Staff CIP 23 Aug 2011 Staff CIP 2011 is about Contributing to the Less Fortunate The two beneficieries are St Hilda s Link and Mountbatten Constituency For St Hilda s Link our staff contributed 200 packs of Anlene Milo Ovaltine and Horlicks as well as 100 loaves of Sunshine Bread These items were distributed to the elderly during their Active Ageing Festival The items to be contributed had been specified by St Hilda s Link For Mountbatten Constituency our staff contributed food hampers which comprised of Milo Horlicks Ovaltine Anlene vermicelli and Cream Crackers We decided to include the other items to match items bought by the staff In addition we also contributed cash 1450 collected from staff donation The food hampers were distributed to the elderly and the less fortunate families on 23 August 2011 during their Annual ComCare and Ang Pow Distribution Dinner We thought we were the VIPs for the night but alas there was an even more important VVIP The Guest of
