  • Stockholm Junior Water Prize
    is organized by the Stockholm International Water Institute in conjunction with the World Water Week in Stockholm All the participants are winners of their national Junior Water Prize Competitions All finalists will receive their Finalist Diplomas from the Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden They are also invited to the Royal Banquet with His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden for the Stockholm Water Prize Award Ceremony This year Low Jia Zhen 5C42 and Tan Hui Ling Jane 5C43 from Dunman High School together with another student from NUS High School won the Singapore Junior Water Prize competition They represented Singapore in the international finals in Stockholm Sweden This year long research journey has really been a wonderful learning experience I really enjoyed doing our research in the laboratories in school and in NIE Not only that the Singapore Junior Water Prize and Stockholm Junior Water Prize in Sweden had really been an eye opener for me In Sweden I had a chance to interact with people who come from diverse backgrounds and got to know more about their culture and lifestyles I also met many brilliant young scientists from all over the world and their excellence in science has served as a motivation and an inspiration for me to achieve greater heights Jia Zhen Looking back at the experiences I have gained from this research project I realized that it has allowed me to learn much on top and above of mere classroom knowledge Through this project I have gained the chance to engage in higher level laboratory work as well as national and international competitions The Stockholm Junior Water Prize has also allowed us to work closely with the NUS High student to increase teamwork and cohesion portraying the team Singapore spirit overseas The one week stay in

    Talent Development Programme Campus Life Campus Life 2012 Campus Life 2011 Campus Life 2010 Campus Life 2009 Campus Life 2008 Achievements CCA Scholars School EZCOETNL Mission Vision Logo Professional Sharing Day 14 09 2012 Resources and Useful Links Venue Booking Archives Contact Us Home Partners Administration DHS Apps Contact Us All Campus Life Campus Life Campus Life 2012 Campus Life 2011 Campus Life 2010 Campus Life 2009 Campus Life 2008 Home Oct 12 26 BSP Trip to Jiangsu Oct 12 26 BSP Trip to Jiangsu 12 Oct 2010 一提到出国 总是让我们这些莘莘学子充满了期盼和向往 带着无比兴奋的心情 我们登上了飞往中国上海的飞机 开始了一次精彩难忘的学习之旅 由于班机误点 抵达海门那天 已经很晚了 在蒙蒙细雨中 引颈企盼已久的东洲师生们还是带着灿烂的笑容迎接我们 让我第一时间深深地感受到了海门人的热情和好客 隔天的插班学习让我们见识了学生们对学习的认真与积极 在课堂上 同学们都很专注地听讲 回答问题时也很积极 我翻看同桌的课本 只见上面密密麻麻写满了笔记 而且笔迹非常工整 上语文课时 班上传来朗朗的读书声 让我也情不自禁地跟着读了起来 上课时他们是很认真的 下课后他们变得很活泼 有很多同学主动找我们交流 希望更了解新加坡 他们那好学的精神 让我非常敬佩 在江苏几个美丽的景点当中 让我印象最深刻的就是苏州的寒山寺以及夜游濠河 濠河的夜景非常漂亮 岸边一排排垂柳在莹绿色的灯光照耀下 更加婀娜多姿 也别有一番情趣 濠河两旁也有许多标志性的建筑物 其中许多建筑是中西合璧 非常独特 这让我连想起双文化课程 也是希望我们要精通中西方文化 吸取双方的精髓 姑苏城外寒山寺 夜半钟声到客船 寒山寺是因为钟声而闻名 所以我们此次也少不了体验敲钟的感觉 把烦恼都 敲 走 祈福有个更好的明天 通过游玩寒山寺 我体会了 枫桥夜泊 的意境 增加了一点文学知识 在海门 感觉每天都是节日 因为在每个晚上 都能看到璀璨的烟花 原来这是他们庆祝生日 庆典 甚至纯粹是一项娱乐活动 让人更兴奋的是 东洲中学竟然为了欢迎我们 特地安排在操场上空燃放烟火 这还是我第一次这么近距离的观看火树银花 看着亮丽的烟花照亮一张张青春焕发的笑脸 这就是海门一个特别的民俗风情 在一系列为我们安排的中华文化课程中 我们也获益不浅 比如说在中国历史讲座中 主讲老师非常巧妙地介绍了中国的科技发展 以及中国的发展进步 让人不禁敬佩先人的聪明才智 发明了纸张 印刷术 火药等造福人类的创新科技 在民族乐器体验课中 我们有机会学习葫芦丝这个特别的民族乐器 欣赏它的美妙声音 武术课中 我们见识了中华武术的威武 虽然我们的动作都不标准 但大家其乐融融 不亦乐乎 我学到了许多东西 也了解练武术除了能防身 也能强身健体 锻炼毅力 南京是个古都 也是个现代化花园城市 来到南京一中 进入眼帘的又是另一番景色 由于秋季运动会逼近 到处可见同学在操场上运动 练习 这让学校显得生气勃勃 南京一中的同学们都很好学 而且很开朗 有些同学会主动与我用英语交谈 练习口语 他们不怕说错 虚心学习 通过交谈 我了解到他们都养成了每天复习与预习的好习惯 而这也是我有待加强的一方面 他们也非常乐于助人 当我遇到问题时 都会有一大群热心的同学围上前 希望能给我帮助 中山陵和南京博物馆的游玩让我进一步了解了中国文化与历史 在中山陵 导游耐心地给我们讲解了孙中山对中国的贡献 这让我们学到了很多东西 除了喜欢中山陵如花园般的美丽景色

  • Oct 30 - Nov 04: Student Council Overseas Trip
    Council Overseas Trip 30 Oct 2010 From 30th October to 4th November 2010 57 members of the Dunman High School Junior High Student Council participated in the council s annual overseas trip This year we went to Batam Indonesia to conduct the CIP element of the camp and from there we proceeded on to Rainforest Adventure Centre at Kota Tinggi Malaysia for the adventure aspect At Batam we visited a local orphanage where we conducted CIP There we split into groups taking turns to contribute to the different aspects of the Community Involvement Project In all we painted and decorated the orphanage s new extension building cleaned up the area and interacted with the children and locals there On our last day of the CIP we brought the children at the orphanage to a local park where we played many bonding games with them forging new but strong ties with the children Also after viewing the local exhibits at the park councillors got a better understanding of the Indonesian culture On day 3 after a short transit in Singapore we boarded the bus which took us to our next destination Rainforest Adventure Centre at Kota Tinggi Malaysia where we spent the remaining 4 days of the expedition Over the next few days we participated in a variety of activities from a confidence boosting Jungle Night Confidence Walk high and low elements courses such as Abseiling Flying Fox and Whale Watch High Beam Jetty Jump and Teamtanic where we had to come together as a group to build a raft an unforgettable waterfall expedition to the Pelepah waterfall to a memorable BBQ dinner as a council on the last night Although some of these activities were challenging and strenuous and our living conditions were less than ideal it played a fundamental
