  • Kang Chiao Bilingual School Exchange Programme
principal teachers and students from Kang Chiao Bilingual School With the five days immersion the students from Dunman High and Kang Chiao Bilingual School have a wonderful time exchanging ideas and culture from two different country Here is a reflection done by one of the students from Dunman High School The Bicultural Studies Exchange Programme gave me an opportunity to interact with Taiwanese students from Kang Chiao Bilingual School It has been a truly memorable experience for me because it is my first time playing host to a friend from afar Through this valuable learning experience I have gained a deeper understanding about the way of life in Taiwan and learnt to appreciate the differences in culture between Singapore and Taiwan It was interesting and heartwarming to witness students from both schools interact and forge strong friendships I feel that this programme has given me a chance to learn to accept and appreciate differences between people Initially it was admittedly challenging to converse with and get to know my male buddy better However with our efforts to learn more about each other I believe that this programme has left us more confident and comfortable when interacting with others In addition I have had the opportunity to forge strong and lasting friendships with our guests from Kang Chiao which I believe will remain meaningful to me This programme has also instilled in me a sense of belonging to Singapore While allowing our buddies to experience Singapore I have also learnt to appreciate the unique and interesting Singapore culture Although it took an effort from my family to ensure that our guest felt at home I nevertheless believe that it was worthwhile as they truly enjoyed their stay in Singapore Although it was not easy for my buddy to leave his family
