something about OBS that stays with us for life Over the course of four tiring but memorable days we the year four cohort have worked together to overcome obstacles and have emerged as stronger and more resilient individuals We are only young once and hence this is the time for us to immerse ourselves in new experiences such as camping rock climbing kayaking trekking and outdoor cooking These outdoor activities have provided a platform for us to learn from one another and develop our hidden potential We have learned to move out of our comfort zone accept others for who they are and work together as a team despite the obstacles faced tapping on each other s strengths and doing our best to help everybody accomplish a given task The many real life experiences that we have gained have taught us the importance of resilience and teamwork be it pitching a tent cooking a meal in the outdoor or trekking and kayaking for hours on end For example in overcoming the rope courses there was many a time that we really felt like giving up especially those with height phobia In fact reaching the top of the rope course seemed nearly impossible However we all challenged our own abilities by setting goals for ourselves Even though not all of us managed to reach the top but the effort we put in was what mattered Achieving our goals was what gave us the sense of satisfaction In the process not only did we build our own confidence but we also learnt to rely on one another and trust others to help us scale greater heights The OBS activities which cannot be stimulated in a regular classroom environment required us to learn to trust and cooperate with one another Such an experience
