  • UNEP-BCA CSB joint Project | BCA CSB
    BCA through BCA CSB has embarked on a partnership project with UNEP since 2014 The Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action NAMA Development for the Building Sector in Asia Capitalising on the project and its existing work in Southeast Asia the Centre is working with UNEP as an implementing partner to develop policies and actions for the building sector in Asia This partnership project aims to provide four participating Asian countries Indonesia the Philippines Thailand and Vietnam with support to develop national plans and frameworks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in their building sectors The project is part of the International Climate Initiative supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety BMU BCA CSB will also work under the overall coordination of the UNEP core team with other implementing partners in the project including the UNEP Regional Office for Asia and Pacific in Bangkok the UNEP RISOE Centre near Copenhagen Tsinghua University in Beijing The Energy and Resources Institute TERI in New Delhi and the Global Buildings Performance Network GBPN to establish baselines and measure progress in emission reductions in the participating countries So far BCA CSB has co authored the Guidebook for the Development of

    and other concurrent events The conferences were well attended with strong local regional and international participation and delegates were able to benefit from the co location of events SB13 Singapore is part of a series of conferences hosted in different parts of the world in 2013 The conferences will lead up to the global Sustainable Building conference in Barcelona Spain in October 2014 SB13 Singapore addressed the theme Realising Sustainability in the Tropics with a focus on tracks such as Efficacy Ecology Wellness Integration and a special session on Construction Materials Stewardship The annual business meeting of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction CIB Working Commission W115 Construction Materials Stewardship was also held in conjunction with the SB13 Singapore on September 10 2013 The conference showcased built projects ongoing research and governance models that specifically address life in the tropics paradigms processes and tools that can help designers developers and policy makers understand the exchange between people and buildings buildings and neighbourhoods cities and their surroundings man and nature These topics presented by industry leaders top universities and leading research institutes also reflected diverse aspects of sustainable urbanism regenerative design socio cultural vectors life cycle

  • Senior Executive Development Programme 2012 | BCA CSB
    8 to 10 October 2012 It was a 3 day training programme for regional policy makers and industry stakeholders to discuss explore and accelerate the development of expertise in governance public administration and implementation of green building projects in Asia Pacific Leveraging on 15 experts from UNEP UNEP s Sustainable Buildings and Climate Initiative UNEP SBCI the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology RMIT and various Singapore agencies and institutions the programme created an excellent platform to gather about 30 senior executives from 9 participating Asia Pacific countries namely Indonesia India Malaysia Pakistan Singapore Sri Lanka Thailand The Philippines and Vietnam including Director General and Directors from the government sector project managers and Presidents or CEOs from the Green Building Councils Remarks from SEDP Participants We really enjoyed the EDP programme in Singapore We Green Building Council of Sri Lanka highly appreciate BCA CSB s assistance to improve our knowledge base in going green Ravihansa Chandratilake Project Manager Green Building Council of Sri Lanka I would like to express my appreciation to BCA CSB s well prepared Senior Executive Development Programme and I found the programme very informative and useful Mrs Amaraporn Achavangkool Director of Technical and Energy Efficiency Promotion Dept of Alternative Energy Development Efficiency Thailand Sharing of Ideas and Knowledge Exchange These senior executives were then joined by over 100 international stakeholders industry cities national governments and international agencies from more than 100 companies across 20 countries and 6 continents at a UNEP SBCI Fall Symposium on Sustainable Buildings organised by UNEP SBCI and co organised by BCA CSB and SGBC on 9 to 10 October 2012 Session Topics Session 1 Buildings for a Sustainable Future by Mr Stephane Pouffary UNEP SBCI Sustainable Building in Asia Pacific by Dr Usha Lyer Raniga RMIT SGBC s engagement with building stakeholders

    October 2012 was attended by over 100 international stakeholders from more than 100 companies across 20 countries and 6 continents including participants from the Senior Executive Development Programme The symposium provided a unique opportunity to engage international stakeholders experts and UNEP partners in Singapore in a discussion about strategies and solutions for mitigating climate change championing sustainable buildings and greening the supply chain Prominent speakers included Ms Elisea Bebet Gozun Presidential Advisor on Climate Change Office of the President Government of the Philippines and key UNEP representatives such as Mr Stefanos Fotiou Senior Regional Coordinator Regional Office for Asia Pacific UNEP Remarks from UNEP SBCI Fall Symposium Delegates It was a quality event with fantastic organisation Thank you and congratulations to the BCA Centre for Sustainable Buildings and the Singapore Green Building Council It was an inspiring event that was very well organised It was very informative and a great introduction to the work of the UNEP SBCI The following are made available as below Agenda Keynote Address Session 1 Strategies for Promoting Sustainable Buildings The Work of UNEP SBCI An overview of UNEP SBCI activities Developing a Sustainable Buildings Protocol How the CCM is being formulated at ISO Session
